This is the second caregiver service I have used to help me take care of my mom that has had dementia since 2020. I was with the first agency for 2 years and my experience was great, but it was pricey. I heard about Angel Connection and learned their rate was $10 less an hour so I decided to give them a try. In the beginning things were great. Marilou took great care of my mom. In July Marilou went to the Philippines to visit her family and told me she wouldn’t be back until January. After she left, Angel connection sent me a bunch of caregivers and one by one I would see that they weren’t attentive and very lazy. They would sit on my couch for hours and play with their phones. One lady even brought her laptop to my house. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my mom alone with any of them and in a span of about a month i caught 3 separate ladies sleeping on my couch. It’s crazy to think that they would fall a sleep knowing I was home. After complaining about caregiver after caregiver I was sent Remy and Kristina which I loved, but I seemed like I could never schedule them. I was finally able to schedule Remy on Sundays and Mondays, but I needed more help. It seemed like the more I asked for remy and Kristine the more the scheduler (I’m not saying her name) would ignore me and/or take her time returning my messages. It started to feel like they didn’t care about my concerns or value my business. The last straw for me was when I made plans with some friends which would take me out of town for the whole day. Two weeks before that day I left the scheduler a message requesting to have Remy. She confirmed and then the day of the event she sent someone else in Remy’s place without ever telling me. The lady she sent had been to my house twice before and I hadn’t had any issues, but considering my past experiences I was very concerned. When I reached out to her to address the situation, her response was,”sorry I forgot to call you!”. I hired a caregiver to not only help meet my mom’s needs, but to help me relieve some of the stress I experience taking care of her for the last five years. These past few months with Angel connection have done the exact opposite and I feel more stressed out than if I were to take care of my mom alone.
